Home auctions bounce back from 2-year low

The number of homes going under the hammer has risen across the nation over the past week, while housing prices have hardly moved.

More than 3,350 auctions were held in the week to December 10, with the national auction clearance rate lifting to 63.1 per cent, from the previous week's 60.3 per cent, the lowest level since late 2015, preliminary figures from property data group Corelogic show.

Home prices across the five capital cities slipped slightly in the week, down 0.1 per cent, with declines in Sydney and Melbourne offsetting modest gains in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
